A good biography of Darwin for a younger audience This book extensively details Darwin s experiences on board the HMS Beagle This book spends time on Darwin s personal life and personality There is a whole chapter devoted to the death of his daughter The book does not devote much time discussing the theory of Natural Selection of the reaction to Darwin s most famous book, On the Origin of Species.

I thought this book was pretty good I liked the information and it, and all the side notes about things like certain animals and life in the 1830 s made the book even enjoyable However, I felt like the writing style was rather bland and that the book was a little slow Also, I did not think there was enough information on Charles Darwin s theories I felt like there was information about less important things, like people he met that did not do much Read this if you are interested in science or in history.

Charles Darwin wanted to discover nature But when he goes out on a 5 year journey around the world, he discovers something even important So, when he gets back to England, he writes a book about it Then he publishes it even though it s against religious people s beliefs This book is about travel and work.

  4. says:

Fine text describing Darwin s work both on the Beagle and at home afterwards which is for some reason challenging to find in children s texts Completely readable for middle school students, and decently rich even if some of the explanations are a bit scant.

  5. says:

A great companion for Charles and Emma.

Good biography of Darwin, focusing on his voyage on the beagle and also his college years, which I hadn t known as much about having read a lot of Darwin biographies in the past couple of years.
