I love to crochet and Leisure Arts is one of the few publishers on the craft so I buy their books But I m really beginning to wonder if their board of directors is made up of knitters who hate the craft of crochet I mean, could they try any harder to make crocheted apparel look really stupid and out of date Why do I buy their books Again, they re one of the few publishers that carry crochet patterns and usually I will find one or two patterns that I know I can adapt to something I d REALLY like to wear I just wish someone at their company would look at some fashion magazines from this decade or even look out the window well, that may not work since they re located in Little Rock, AR and see what real people are wearing.

I m giving it a 4 for the good instructions and mostly wearable styles, however, many look a bit dated Definitely for a person who likes classic styles and not too trendy Several are just boring and don t seem to take advantage of the multitude of crochet stitches out there i really liked the carefree cardigan, elegant swing coat, blue heaven sweater, and Boucle Cardigan I love cardigans but if you don t then skip this book.

I m in the middle of making the sweater on the cover The instructions are good and it s been fun and fairly easy There aren t a lot of patterns that I really like, but there s at least another that I d consider trying.

  4. says:

Slightly outdated aren t all crochet pattern books though , there are still a few cuties in here All sweaters, cardis or coats I probably won t end up making anything because I m way too poor to buy that amount of yarn

  5. says:

Every pattern in this book is a button up coat or cardigan, there are no pullover sweaters I don t love all of the patterns in this book, but there are maybe 3 that I will be saving for later It s nice that a lot of the patterns are listed as easy, for beginners.

There are several sweaters in this book that I am planning on making.

  7. says:

Classic simple pieces This is not a trendy book It s kinda like Talbots style The instructions are clear and concise.
