The best thing about this book some of these patterns are absolutely drop dead gorgeous If I ever get thin I am going to splurge on expensive materials and make the Risa Robe it s a knockout The worst thing about this book the patterns only list the brand and type of yarn used for the piece in the photo, without telling the reader what the weight of the yarn is This makes it extremely difficult to know how to substitute a different yarn like maybe one that doesn t cost twenty dollars a skein without completely screwing up the gauge from the get go.Knit or crochet as the title suggests, all patterns are crocheted. The patterns are primarily wearables, a lot of which need to fit just so in order to look good, which is an issue for, ahem, larger people, such as myself However, there are also a lot of shawls and scarfs and things like that Any successful finagling of sizes on my part will be posted in this review in future. So far I have tried making only one of the patterns, the first one, called Chrysanthemum Tea Shawl pictured on the cover So far, so good, it s looking great, and I m using plain old Red Heart Super Saver I m trying to tweak the pattern a little so that it will fit my rather large body as nicely as it does the stick person in the photo All photos contain stick people, natch Will update review with details when I see how this turns out, and as I try patterns.Known mistakes pattern for Chrysanthemum Tea Shawl, at least one row of the written instructions is flat out wrong, so I suggest looking at the visual stitch pattern instead Usually I hate trying to decipher those things, but in this case it will save you a world of annoyance.

If you want to take your crochet up to another level Doris Chan is the tool to get there The part I loved most was the homage to her mother and sharing stories of crochet s connection to her Mom and their family history.Doris a great writer as well as a designer..what a spirit she has

Looked good, but I don t think that it really comes off all the well I haven t tried any of them yet They all seem too hard Perhaps a expereienced hooker would like this book.
