The author is convincing as she takes us with her on convoy in Afghanistan In a later chapter, we cross the border with her on day one of the Iraq War But her book is not primarily about war, it is about mental illness She is courageous to share what she went through, and I hope her book will give understanding and encouragement to others in similar situations, and their families. Her book deals with her eleven year search for a diagnosis and treatment of a baffling mental illness Coincidentally, she describes how mentally ill patients are treated differently from those with visible wounds and illnesses, and how lacking in effective care such treatment can be for many One positive aspect of her care that stands out is the presence of an extended family, including an amazing grandmother, who were there for her, supporting her in whatever way they could She also had many caring friends, and eventually she met and married a man she describes as her perfect partner Sadly, most people with mental illness don t have this important support system. The author has done her research into the treatment of mental illnesses, and includes suggestions for changes in treatment at the end of her book.I wish her and her family the best and hope that the medicine that has given her so much control continues to work well for her She has lost enough time locked in. Thank you everyone for reading my story Please share with others.
