Who admits they have a crush the word love actually spills on out on someone, and for years, when that person doesn t even know who they are Who blurts it all out the first time they have face time together Who doesn t notice who sits behind them for 4 years in class And would you really want to be with them because they are clearly self absorbed It made me feel embarrassed and like cringing The author has a causal style that could be good, but it s not on display this time Copy supplied by the publisher in return for an honest review.

3 Stars, 3 FlamesWhat are two men, who have found one another but are thrust upon two different paths, to do Jake has secretly loved Quentin all through college and one fateful night, Quentin finally notices Jake Quentin s family comes from old money and would not accept Quentin s sexuality so he lives in hiding Whereas, Jake is full of life and is content with who he is This book had many ups and downs It started off with Jake trying to gain courage to speak to Quentin I believe, though, that the timeline was off, it seemed to speed up then slow down The majority of the book was during one great summer that the two of them spent together Than the next part sped up through 4 years. The heat between Jake and Quentin were not as steamy as some of the other M M stories I have read I enjoyed reading this story because it was sweet and yet hit on some serious issues that homosexual men deal with today With times being the way that they are, you would expect men to not be afraid of who they are and what they love However, so many men and women feel pressured to be who their families want them to be I loved how Jake tried so hard to be everything Quentin deserved and wanted but he gives so much of himself that when the inevitable happens, he s left broken Jake does his hardest to regain who he was after Q leaves and he makes himself better So I was disappointed when Jake was so accepting of Quentin after he leaves and comes back with not much effort on Q s part Sure there was an explanation and things were all laid out but within hours it was like nothing happened There were some heart wrenching scenes were I could not hold back the tears The author did a great job helping the audience connect with the characters I was gifted a copy of this book from The Jeep Diva in exchange for an honest review The reviews and opinions are my own and was in no way compensated for my review.

3.5 stars Copy provided by author publisher via Divine Magazine in exchange for an honest review Jake has had a major crush on Quentin for the past few years of college Not knowing if he is straight or gay, he s never made a move or even initiated any communication or contact with him Jake has just admired and swooned over Quentin from afar When Jake s best friend, Steve takes matters into his own hands the two are finally in the same place at the same time, outside of the classroom Turns out Quentin is gay, but because of his families prejudices, he s also deeply hidden in the closet. While I loved the premise of the story and the main characters were likable, I didn t always care for the execution of the flow and writing in the book At times the story didn t flow well, and I felt lost with the time Time seemed to pass very slowly, and I just wanted things to move forward Some books just pull you in and are easy reads This wasn t The writing felt forced I can t think of another way to word it I rarely say this, but there was too much sex in this book I felt it was used as a tool just to fill the pages. The story is told completely from Jake s POV Sometimes this works, but I felt we didn t know enough about Quentin I think the story might have worked better had we also heard from Quentin. All in all, it wasn t a terrible read, but definitely not my favorite.Check out my other reviews at Divine Magazine

Copy provided to Bayou Book Junkie in exchange for a fair and honest review Jake has been crushing on his classmate Quentin from the moment he set eyes on him nearly four years ago now, about to graduate from college and start graduate school, and faced with the chance of having a relationship with very much in the closet and not about to leave it anytime soon Quentin, he is not about to waste it, even if heartbreak is looming on the horizon at the end of summer I enjoyed this book, for the most part It s well written and Tina Blenke takes us through an emotional roller coaster right along with Jake, from the height of happiness when his attraction to Quentin is reciprocated to the depths of despair at their separation once summer ends, and everything in between My heart broke for Jake several times during the book His romance with Quentin was almost fairytale like, but still he held back, thinking it wouldn t end well, and well, in part he was right, but there was still so much happening And really, while I liked the book, there were times when I just wanted to shake Jake and tell him to be a bit assertive and not accept everything that happened to him without doing All in all, a very good book, with likable characters both main and supporting , with a lovely HEA that will leave you smiling Rating 4 Stars

this was a surprisingly emotionally great read i really liked most of the characters in the book and the writing was pretty good i love that most of the men are nerdy scientists i loved jake and how shy he wasit took him 4 years to finally talk to the man he was crushing on and then it was initiated by quentin their summer together was sweet at times but tainted by quentin being in the closet and jake not fully investing himself know that quentin was leaving at the end of summer the times they were fully invested with their guards down they were perfect together they both go through long painful roads to get to a good place, stable enough to be in a healthy relationship.there were a couple of really great scenes the museum and the dancing were my favorites steve, cora and phil were great supporting characters my only complaint is that at times the writing seemed a bit rushed, like the story was on fast forward not all the time but a few times it really stood out to me while other times it seemed really slow with a ton of description of the scene.overall, a great read that i recommend

Jake has had a huge crush on Quentin who is in his classes for awhile Now I did really love Jake s character and the authors pretense of this story but I have to be honest and say I was not a huge fan of Quentin s character and all the things he does to Jake I can t really go to much into it without giving away a lot of spoilers which I really do not want to do but I have to say I am not a fan of forgiveness being given way to easy like nothing really happened when what did happen I felt like was really bad To me personally it felt like what Quentin does in this book was honestly not cool at all I just want to see the person who did the bad thing to the other MC to at least work for it and not just have it given to him like it was not big deal that really annoys me for some reason Other than that I did like parts of this book and then there were parts of this book I have to be honest and say I was really not a huge fan of so I am sad to say the parts I was not a fan of out weighed the parts I was and sadly this book was just not for me I received this book free in exchange for an honest review from Inked Rainbow Reads.

A Joyfully Jay review 3.5 starsThis story starts off with a bang as Jake is outed by his roommate on the eve of college graduation For four years, Jake has lusted after a straight guy who doesn t even know he exists despite the fact that the two of them have taken nearly the same classes all four years Readers get to watch Jake downward spiral as he deals with Quentin leaving, even though he pretty much told Quentin to go With the help of his friends, Jake realizes that he had put Quentin on a pedestal where he only saw what he wanted to see Jake starts to rebuild his life, one away from the depression When Quentin returns, the two have to face the reasons why their relationship ended the way that it did, and figure out how to make a new relationship work by building on the love they had for one another.Read Wendy s review in its entirety here.
