Aurora and her husband have recently married and they have just discovered that Aurora is pregnant with their first child They are so happy at the addition to their family and there are tears of joy when they first see a scan of the baby This wriggling blog on screen has a heartbeat and after they leave the doctors surgery they set off to share the news They can t stop grinning but little do they know their happiness is soon to be shattered in a way they couldn t imagine in their worst nightmares.Auroras half brother has been living with them for a while and he is a good kid who gets on well with his sister and Robin However their happiness is soon to shatter when Aurora s brother Phillip goes missing along with three others from a football field One of the missing is only eleven years old and was waiting to get a ride home from school to avoid being bullied There is no trace of the missing children and the worry increases when a body is found I really enjoyed listening to this audiobook and I could happily enjoy listening to anything by the narrator telling the story I believe this is the second book that I have listened to by this author and it certainly won t be the last. Freshly married and overcome with joy over finding she s expecting Aurora Roe Teagarden has everything falling into place in her life at the moment That is until four teens go missing, one of which is Roe s own half brother who had been living with her and her husband With everyone becoming frantic when the kids aren t anywhere to be found the police are quickly called in but unfortunately things only get worse when a dead body is found While the police are conducting their investigation Roe and her new husband begin their own investigation to help try to find the missing teens All the Little Liars is the ninth book in the Aurora Teagarden series by Charlaine Harris but the first of the series which I ve read myself I have seen a couple of the movies based on the books though so I was somewhat familiar with the characters and setting involved in this series before starting this one but it still seemed to read alright without the others Having read the Sookie Stackhouse series I knew I would probably love these books so no better time to try than when I saw this up for review Aurora Teagarden is such a likable character, a down to earth small town librarian that can t help but want to help others when things go wrong The setting is one in which everyone knows everyone so it s easy for the main character to go snoopy in her investigations and ask around digging for details in the small town I spent the entire read with the question of what could possibly of happened to these kids and really enjoyed the journey to finding out along with the ending to the story Overall, a great cozy mystery, enjoyable even not having read the others in the series but being a fan of Charlaine Harris already I really should go back and read the others I received an advance copy from the publisher via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. For reviews please visit 2.5 starsDefinitely my least favorite book in the series I m not sure if the problem was too much time had passed since the author had written the previous book or it s just difficult coming up with good stories when you are on book 9 of a series Aurora Teagarden and her new husband, Robin Crusoe, are going to have a baby The news is just settling in when her half brother Phillip goes missing along with three other kids If we know one thing about Aurora it s she is not going to sit around waiting for the police to solve the case, she s going to conduct her own investigation One of the things I ve always loved about these books is the sense of community and how characters are featured in multiple books or at least get a brief mention It makes for a comfortable type feeling when reading and once again, this book had familiar faces The problem though was it also added a bunch of new characters to the point in which it felt overwhelming I normally don t complain about too many characters in a book but I really struggled with this one.Unfortunately, the plot of having 4 kids missing sounds like it would hold your interest, but in reality I was bored for most of the book Even though Phillip is related to Aurora and some of the other kids have popped up in other books, I found myself not even caring what happened to them The teenage drama just did not work for me and the mystery itself was pretty flimsy.Even though I didn t enjoy this one as much as I have with other books in the series, I still plan on reading the next book as I do really have a fondness for the main character. I had never been able to fathom what people did with their moments, if they didn t read Aurora Teagarden has just returned home from her honeymoon with Robin and is informing friends and family that she is expecting their first child Just as she and Robin are happily making plans, her 15 year old brother does not return home Initially Aurora is not worried until she receives a frantic phone call from a mother looking for her son who is one of Phillip s friends Aurora soon learns that Phillip is one of four teens who have gone missing including her best friend Aubrey s 11 year old daughter To make matters worse, and scary, a teenage has been found dead. The local police begin their investigation as does Aurora and her true crime writer husband, Robin They don t have much to go on and everyone has unanswered questions Why was ransom only asked for one of the missing teens Could the recent bullying of the 11 year old girl have something to do with their disappearance Will they be found alive Could Phillip be responsible Aurora, of course, gets on the case and does not let morning sickness get in her way of finding her brother Besides working at the library, she is an amateur super sleuth who seems to be able to get to the bottom of things Soon Aurora is questioning just about everyone she comes in contact with in hopes of finding out information concerning her missing brother and his friends Here is where I have to suspend some disbelief and I do not buy that everyone involved would be willing to answer her questions or allow her to question their children I know it is a small town and there is the everyone knows everyone vibe going on, but it didn t make sense why people would be so willing to be interrogated by her To make things worse, she has some family drama as her father has come to town naturally worried about his missing son Could his son s disappearance be related to his gambling debts I was sad when Harris stopped this series so many years ago I really enjoyed the previous books and found Aurora to be sassy, funny, interesting and clever I was really happy to see that Harris had written another book in this series I have to say, this was my least favorite one I do not believe this is due to the amount of time between the previous book and this one I did not find Aurora to have as much humor or zest I get that she has morning sickness but still.I found this book had a lot of filler that I did not need but overall, I was happy to see Aurora and Robin again after approx 12 13 years in between books In the books only 3 weeks have passed Harris does pick up where the last book ended which was nice I found the mystery in this book to be okay and not great At the end I thought that s it It was nice to see Aurora again but this felt a little flat to me Harris does address many issues in this book bullying, sexuality, pregnancy, marriage, etc So I was slightly disappointed with this book I have been reading some great mysteries thrillers and this one just does not stand up to those This is a lighter cozy mystery that isn t graphic or explicit Almost everyone can read this book and not be put off It is a light book as in this is not a gritty book or one the reader needs to think too much about Other reviewers have mentioned errors in the book, so I wont go there Still liked this one didn t love it.See of my reviews at www.openbookpost.com I love that marriage and pregnancy has not slowed Aurora down Charlaine did well in moving the characters on with her next phase in life It s clear her life as a Bartell is in the past and she has recovered from her grief and moved on it was a good read I still hope that she writes A must read for the Aurora Teagarden fan Aurora Teagarden is back, she s married to a wonderful man, working at a job she loves, and is bonding with her half brother Life is good for this favorite librarian, until it s not Aurora is living with new husband and her teenage half brother, after he couldn t live with his parents any Robin her husband is an ideal husband, attentive, loving and communicative They have real happiness, and is about to come Unfortunately, the good news is shadowed by the disappearance of her brother and a handful of other teenagers in town, and when one of the group is found dead things get serious The police are called, but there is little to find, and Aurora and her husband take investigation in their own hands Yes she gets herself in a pickle, but now she has good solid backup.I loved seeing Aurora again, and to see her so well situated was wonderful How often do we get to see a good solid realistic relationship I hope there is another book in the future There was a major life changing event that I want to see happen.I received the ARC in exchange for an honest review Well, this was utterly ridiculous on so many levels Why did I like this series 10 years ago Read Dec 2016Rating 4 5 starsWhat I liked Love the small southern town setting I really like Roe and Robin and I hope Harris is going to now write books in this series so we can meet their baby and see how they manage parenthood with solving mysteries The mystery was well thought out and I couldn t guess the ending or who the kidnapper was As with all Harris books, it was very easy to become engrossed in the story very well written and entertaining to read. What I didn t like I m not sure why Harris chose to set All the Little Liars in 2016 The previous books in the series were all written and set between 1990 and 2003 They were reflective of their time period as best I can remember I read the omnibus editions about six years ago Rather than do a time jump and make it thirteen years later in the timeline, Roe makes a point about how the events in Poppy Done to Death only happened a few weeks ago and she is still in the early stages of her pregnancy which she found out about at the end of the last novel then goes on to heavily reference Facebook, Twitter, Uber and The Walking Dead to name just a few This messes with the continuity for me as none of these things existed thirteen years ago and so have not been mentioned at all in the previous books. However I still really enjoyed getting a new story in a series I thought was finished and now I am hoping for many to come.
