The Berenstain Bears Get Stage Fright

The Berenstain Bears Get Stage FrightStan and Jan Berenstain s picture concept book discuss how important it is to stand up for yourself and speak with a strong voice The book begins with the cubs speaking judgmentally about their teacher, and spins into Sister one of the main characters obtaining a part in the school play This book sports simple sentences and neglects to use colorful language, making it unimaginative The clumps of sentences are lengthy, still, which makes reading the simplicity a bit boring The illustrations appear to be snapshots from the T.V show, which is fine, but they lack creativity The parents of the main characters lecture about stage fright, which may prove the concept meaningless to the young reader listener Although I think this book would be appropriate to have in a classroom library, I would not recommend it for advancing vocabulary or encouraging creative thinking The Berenstain Bears bored me with this book. One of the better Berenstain Bears books, but these are simply not elite level books Brother fails in every book, yet he has this incredible self confidence where he just has no basis in reality He truly was the first Millennial. The Berenstain Bears Get Stage Fright is a cute story with a great lesson The school is doing a play and Sister gets the main part At first it s all very exciting, but then she realizes what she s going to have to do With a little help from Mama and Papa, Sister is ready for the play Sister learns that although being in the play is scary a little hard work makes it much easier. ScarynessThis kind of fun can be very entertaining for some people because they like this stage acting But, this can be very scary for them if they are in front of a lot of people, just like sister bear was They can overcome this by not thinking about what they are doing, but by just doing the act This way, it will make it so you will not be scared A quote, If you are scared about performing, that means you care about it. 6yo I liked that sister bear practiced her part and was able to perform. Stage fright Nerve wrecking Forgetting lines Listening your own voice in a silent auditorium These can be awful but it can be quite an experience too The you get on stage the easier it gets This one is an average book for me Nonetheless it still brings up a real issue in school. it is funny and funny when brother bear says his script upside down. This book was published in 1986 by Random House Publishers and is a book in the First Time Book series In this story, the cubs are at school when they learn from Teacher Jane, that the school play this year will be Grizzlystiltskin which is a book the cubs just finished reading in class Sister learns that she has gotten a part and is very excited about the play and the costumes and make up After school, Sister learns that Brother and Cousin Freddie have gotten parts as well Upon arriving at home, Sister began feeling nervous about memorizing her lines and Brother began giving her a hard time about being nervous, claiming he already knew his lines The next day, she took a short cut through the auditorium at school and realized how huge the room was and how many people would be there to watch the play and she was even worried Although she was worried, she practiced and practiced her lines She practiced in her room in front of her toys, she practiced in the forest in front of her animal friends and she practiced with Mama and Papa The night of the play, Mama explained that it s natural to get nervous and that it s OK The play began and Sister nailed her lines but Brother forgot what he was supposed to say Sister helped brother with his lines and the audience applauded loudly when the play was over. The life lesson from this story is that it s natural to be nervous about speaking, acting and singing in public What s important is that you practice your lines so that you know exactly what to do when you get on stage Practice makes perfect OK, this one has just become my favorite of this entire series so far I really needed to hear this message today when everything feel so overwhelming That moment when Sister doesn t know how she s going to be able to take the lead in the school play and Mama Bear tells her You will learn it, one line at a time One page at a time Laying in bed with the flu and a huge editing job in front of me, this is exactly the message I need to hear I ll get through it, one line at a time One page at a time It s so easy to get caught up in how BIG a project can seem This book is brilliant in that it reminds a child that it s easier to focus on the small goals that will make up the whole of the big This is a wonderful reminder for all of us.
